WASHINGTON — Senior Yari Bradfield scored two goals and the American University women's soccer team stayed perfect at home with a 2-1 victory over Hampton on Wednesday evening at Reeves Field. 

Postgame Notes

• With the win, American sets a program-best start with a 4-0-1 record through the first five games of the season. The previous record was set during the 2006 and 2007 seasons when the team started 4-0-0 before falling in the fifth game of the season.
• American is 3-0-0 at home for the first time since 2009, when the Eagles defeated Georgia Southern, Bryant and Richmond before bowing out to Maryland in the fourth home match. 
• Senior Yari Bradfield scored two goals for the second time this season and in back-to-back home games.
• Bradfield's five goals are the most goals in a single-season since Kelly Donovan had five as a senior in 2015.
• Freshman Emily Smith added a pair of assists on Bradfield's goals and senior Gabriela Maldonado also added an assist on the first goal. 
• Maldonado is second in team points with eight and has recorded a point in four of five games.
• Sophomore Morgan Lang made her first start since Oct. 28, 2017, a 1-0 loss to Lehigh to end her freshman season. 
• Lang made three saves for her first collegiate victory. 
• Sydney Jackson scored the lone goal for Hampton on a penalty kick. 
• Three of the four goals allowed by American has via penalty kicks.
• American will meet VMI on Saturday before returning to Reeves Field on Sept. 6 to take on Richmond.
