Aaron Shepardson will lend tremendous knowledge and expertise to head coach Barry Goldberg's coaching staff. Shepardson comes to AU with 13 years of playing and coaching experience at the collegiate, club and international level.
Shepardson has spent the last two seasons as the head coach of the Front Range Volleyball Club - Mountain Divisioun, in Edwards, Colo., where he oversaw all aspects of program development. Shepardson previously served as an assistant coach to the Front Range Club from 2001-02 and helped the team to the 2002 National Open Division Championship. Before taking command of the Front Range Club, he spent the 2005 season as an assistant coach for the Winthrop University women's volleyball team and helped it to the Big South Conference Championship that season.
His collegiate coaching career began at Baylor University where he served as a volunteer assistant to the women's team from 1996-98 while also playing for the men's club team. In 2000 Shepardson was an assistant coach for the University of Denver women's volleyball team.
Shepardson played for four seasons with the Baylor University volleyball club as an outside hitter and setter before beginning a professional playing career in Europe and Asia. He played one season as an outside hitter and libero for the USA Men's National Team from 2000-01 and was a member of the 2000 Bring It Promotions European Summer Tour which traveled to Germany, Holland and Poland. In 2003, Shepardson joined Team Yuso Gunadarma Yogyakarta of the Indonesia professional volleyball league and also played for VBC Guibertin in Belgium that same season before retiring due to an injury.
Shepardson graduated from Baylor University in 1998 with a bachelor of arts degree in Psychology. He lives in Alexandria, Va., with his wife, Jolene.
