As a standout on an NCAA qualifying-team in a very competitive conference, Lauren Evans brings hordes of valuable playing experience to the AU coaching staff. Playing collegiately at Brigham Young University, she was a four-year letterwinner and was named Mountain West Conference Setter of the Year and earned All-American Honorable Mention honors in her senior year. She ended her career with a 12.29 career assist average and 4,056 assists, good for third and fourth, respectively, all-time at BYU. Following her senior season - where she led the league and finished 19th in the country in assists per game with 13.12 - she was named to the AVCA All-West Region Team. In addition she was a three-time All-Mountain West Conference selection. Evans also competed for the prestigious USA Junior National Team and USA A2 Team, which played throughout Europe and South America. "She has a great deal of volleyball knowledge and will play an integral part in our future success," Goldberg said. "She'll be working with our setters and in individual workouts with our players." Evans has coached all levels of club volleyball, including for the Players Volleyball Club and Club Utah for six years. Her responsibilities included organizing team practices and arranging tournament travel and team registration. She also worked at BYU Sports Camps in her four years as a Cougar. Her volleyball roots trace back to her parents who both played at BYU and her sister who is a First Team All-American at Stanford University. She is married to Taylor Evans, who played men's volleyball at BYU and was a member of its National Championship squad in 2004. Evans graduated from BYU in December 2005 with a degree in history.
