Kazala, Largay Voted to Academic All-PL Team

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Patriot League Player of the Year Aleksandra Kazala and Libero of the Year Kristen Largay added to their postseason trophy cases on Thursday when they were selected to the 2017 Academic All-PL Volleyball Team.

Kazala, a junior outside hitter from Debica, Poland, has a 3.57 in business administration at American. She was selected to the Academic All-PL Team for the second straight season.

Largay, a sophomore from Paradise Valley, Ariz., also majors in business administration and holds a 3.68 cumulative GPA. She earned her first spot on the Academic All-PL squad.

Junior setter Patricia Mattingly was the PL Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second straight season and earned Setter of the Year earlier this week.

Votes were cast by the volleyball sports-information contact in the league, who were not allowed to vote for their own players.

American will host the 2017 Patriot League Volleyball Tournament this Saturday and Sunday at Bender Arena.

The top-seeded Eagles (24-7, 15-1) will face No. 4-seed Lehigh (17-12, 9-7) at 2 p.m. in the opening semifinal, while No. 2 Navy (22-7, 12-4) plays third-seeded Army West Point (18-11, 11-5) in the 5 p.m. semifinal.

Semifinal winners will play for the championship at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets for the Patriot League Tournament are available online. General admission seats for each day are $8 for adults and $5 for children. Students of all four participating schools will be admitted free with a valid student ID.

The tournament will also be live streamed on WatchStadium.com.
