Orsi Leads Eagles' Sweep of Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior middle Cheyenne Orsi led the Eagles with 10 kills and six blocks as American University rolled to a 25-13, 25-18, 25-15 win over Holy Cross in a Patriot League volleyball match on Friday.

The win lifted AU to 9-7 overall and 2-1 in the PL, while the Crusaders fell to 3-13 and 0-3 after losing their sixth straight match.

American had 42 kills and just 10 errors to hit .356 for the match. The Eagles had a 42-22 advantage in kills over the three sets.

Kennedy Etheridge and Olivia Wassner finished with 17 assists each, while Aleksandra Kazala had nine kills, 13 digs, three blocks and a pair of service aces.

Katie Kerins had five kills to lead the Crusaders, who also got 13 digs from Sophie VanSeveren.

American continues its PL road trip on Saturday when it plays at Army West Point. The match will begin at 8:30 p.m. due to the Black Knights' football game that day against UTEP.

The Eagles return home for three matches next week, beginning with a non-conference matchup with Delaware State on Wednesday at 7 p.m. American also faces PL home matches next week against Lehigh on Friday at 7:00 and Lafayette on Saturday at 4:00.
