Eagles Start PL Road Swing on Tuesday at Navy

Aleksandra Kazala hits against Iowa

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The American University volleyball team faces three Patriot League matches on the road this week, beginning with a Tuesday night battle at Navy at 7 p.m.

The Eagles have won three of their last four, including a 3-0 sweep of Loyola Maryland at Bender Arena last Friday night. American is now 8-6 overall and also has road games at Holy Cross on Friday and Army West Point on Saturday.

Junior Aleksandra Kazala comes into Tuesday's match ninth in the nation in kills per set at 4.76. She leads the Patriot League in that category by more than a kill per set. She is also second on the team in digs and leads AU with a dozen service aces.

Sophomore Kristen Largay averages 4.30 digs per set and senior middle Erin Swartz has a team-best 37 blocks so far this season.

Like American, Navy is 1-0 in Patriot League action thus far, also owning a home sweep over Loyola Maryland from the weekend.

The Midshipmen have a balanced offensive attack, as four players have at least two kills per set. Senior opposite Tara Dotzauer leads that group with a 2.96 kps average and a .323 hitting percentage.

Katie Patrick is second in the PL with a 1.18 blocks per set average.

American returns from its three games away with a home match on Wednesday, Oct. 4 against Delaware State.

Tickets to all AU home volleyball matches are available at the Bender Arena Box Office. General admission seats are $8 for adults and $5 for children. AU students are admitted free with a valid student ID.
