CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The American University volleyball team placed 10 student-athletes on the 2015 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, the league announced on Thursday.
To be eligible for the Fall Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade point average in the fall semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's seven fall championship sports.
The Eagles had five seniors earn Academic Honor Roll recognition, led by five-time honoree Monika Smidova (3.96, business administration), the three-time PL Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Sarah Katz (4.0, health promotion), one of eight student-athletes in the league to achieve at least a 4.0 GPA in the fall, and Kristyna Lindovska (3.58, film & media studies), each earned Academic Honor Roll recognition for the fourth time, while Allison Cappellino (3.44, CLEG) and Megi Dervishi (3.64, economics) each receive their second honor roll selection.
Junior Julita Kurdziuk (3.86, business administration) is a three-time Academic Honor Roll selection, while sophomore Erin Swartz (3.58, biology) earned Academic Honor Roll accolades for the second straight season.
A total of 78 student-athletes were named to this year's honor roll, led by Bucknell with 14 selections. Lehigh had 13 honorees, while American had 10. Colgate and Loyola Maryland had nine apiece, followed by Lafayette with eight, Holy Cross with seven, and Army and Navy with four each.
