Women's Tennis Falls to George Washington, 7-0

WASHINGTON - The American University women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 loss to cross-town rival George Washington on Thursday.

The Colonials swept the doubles point, with the No.1 tandem of Julia Colarusso (Downington, Pa./Downington) and Tessa Hollyn-Taub (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) keeping it close but ultimately losing by 8-4. George Washington's No. 2 and No.3 teams took the Eagles down by scores of 8-0 and 8-1, respectively.

Colarusso lost the No. 1 singles spot to GW's Swenson (6-4, 6-3) as Hollyn-Taub came the closest to victory at the No. 2 spot, losing 6-1, 7-5. Junior Brandi Kligman (Milburn, N.J./Short Hills) lost the No. 4 singles spot by a score of 6-4, 6-2.

The Eagles, now 1-14 ovareall, will attempt to rebound on Saturday, April 9, when they travel to N.Y. to take on Syracuse. The match will begin at 2:30 p.m.
