Women's Tennis Falls to Lafayette, 6-1

WASHINGTON - American University's women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 match to Lafayette on Friday.

The Leopards won the No. 2 and 3 spots in the doubles matches as the AU tandem of Julia Colarusso (Downington, Pa./Downington) and Tessa Hollyn-Taub (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) took the No. 1 spot 8-4 over Lafayette's Shee Fung and Clarke.

Colarusso was the only Eagle to win in the singles matches, defeating Chez Saricas by a 6-1, 6-1 margin. Hollyn-Taub lost a 7-5, 6-3 match to Shee Hung at the No. 2 spot as sophomore Rachael Honig (Worcester, Mass./Bancroft School) lost at the No. 3 spot after winning the first set 6-2 but falling 7-6 and 6-2 in the final two. Brandi Kligman (Milburn, N.J./Short Hills) was defeated 6-0, 6-4 at the No. 4 spot and Merrisa Hollinger (Westminister, Md./Westminister) and Brynne Ward (Stone Mountain, Ga./Paideia) also were downed by their Leopard opponents.

The Eagles, who had cancelled three straight matches due to weather, fell to 1-9 on the season and 0-1 in the Patriot League. AU will face Bucknell at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
