AU Women's Soccer's Krystn Hodge Named to ESPN The Magazine Second Team Academic All-District

WASHINGTON - American University women's soccer play Krystn Hodge has been selected to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday.

Hodge is a junior forward on the women's soccer team and is majoring in psychology. After joining the team as a walk-on in 2006, Hodge was named to the 2006 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll after her first season as a student-athlete in the Patriot League.

Hodge is currently ranked second on the Eagles with 22 points, coming from nine goals and a team-leading four assists. She has registered points in eight out of 17 games this season, including two four-point games and one five-point game. Seeing action in all 17 games this year, the forward has started 11. The Rye, N.Y., native also ranks in the top-five in the Patriot League in several categories, ranking first in game-winning goals with five, tying for third in goals with nine, and coming in fourth in goals per game (0.53), points (22) and points per game (1.29). Hodge is also tied for seventh in assists, tallying seven on the season.

In the 2007 season, Hodge was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending September 24th, scoring two goals and registering an assist in the 3-1 win over George Mason. With nine goals on the season, Hodge broke into American University's All-Time Stats for most goals in a season, currently tied for ninth place. With 22 points, she is two points away from breaking into the record books for points in a season.

American University women's soccer is 10-5-2 on the season and remains unbeaten in Patriot League play with a 4-0-2 record. The Eagles return to action on Nov. 3, hosting Bucknell in their final regular-season game. The two teams go head-to-head at 12 p.m., competing for home-field advantage in the Patriot League Tournament.
