Hodge, Brasher Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District

WASHINGTON - American University women's soccer student-athletes Krystn Hodge and Kelsey Brasher were named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Teams on Thursday, Oct. 30, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSida). Hodge was tabbed to the first team for the second straight year, while Brasher was earned second team plaudits.
Hodge, a senior forward, holds a 3.78 grade point average in mathematics and has started every game for the Eagles this season. She has tallied three goals, including two game-winners, and one assist for seven points. Hodge was an ESPN All-District winner a year ago and was also named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Being named a member of the first team, Hodge will now advance to the National Ballot.
Brasher, a junior forward, holds a 3.34 grade point average in political science and has started 12 games and played in 13 this year. Despite missing four games to injury, she has tallied a team-high 13 points on five goals and three assists. She has scored one game-winning goal.
"This is a great honor for our program and shows the type of student-athletes that we have," said AU head coach David Bucciero. "Krystn and Kelsey work tremendously hard both on and off the field and I am very happy that they have been recognized for their efforts."
