Brasher and Stebbins Earn Patriot League BRINE Player of the Week Honors

Sept. 8, 2008

WASHINGTON - After a week that saw the American University women's soccer team post a 1-0-1 record in non-conference play, two Eagles were honored by the Patriot League as BRINE Players of the Week. Junior Kelsey Brasher was tabbed as the Offensive Player of the Week, while junior Erin Stebbins earned Defensive Player of the Week. AU defeated Mount St. Mary's on Tuesday, 3-0, and tied ACC foe Maryland, 1-1, on Friday.

Brasher scored three goals this week in a pair of games, including the game-winner against Mount St. Mary's as well as the Eagles' lone goal in a 1-1 tie with ACC opponent Maryland. Brasher leads the team with four goals this season.

Stebbins was credited with an assist to Brasher's goal in the Friday tie with Maryland. Stebbins helped lead the Eagles defense to a shutout of Mount St. Mary's and held Maryland to just one goal.

AU will return to non-conference action on Sunday when they host Towson at noon on Reeves Field.
