Lee Wins Her First BRINE Rookie of the Week Award

WASHINGTON - American University freshman Jana Lee (New Providence, N.J./Summit) was named the Brine Rookie Player of the Week after she scored five points in AU's 4-1 win over Holy Cross. It is her first such award. Lee made an immediate impact versus Holy Cross, as she scored her first goal just 18 seconds after entering the game. She added the gamewinner later, and eventually assisted on an insurance goal. For the year Lee has six points, which is good for third on the team. Prior to Saturday's game, American had never beaten Holy Cross and lost the last two match ups by a combined score of 9-2. The Crusaders scored the first goal of the game before the Eagles tied things up, and scored the last four goals of the game. The Eagles (3-4-1; 1-0 PL) will next play at Colgate on Saturday, October 4 at 4 p.m. American University, which fields a 19-sport NCAA Division I athletics program featuring 10 women's sports and nine for men, completed its second year of embership in the Patriot League. Since joining the Patriot League, the University has captured league championships in men's cross country, women's cross country, women's lacrosse, men's soccer, women's soccer, men's tennis, women's tennis and women's volleyball, and a regular-season title in men's basketball.
