Scott and Engel Garner Soccer Buzz Magazine All-Region Honors

WASHINGTON - American University women's soccer players Annette Scott and Friederike Engel were honored as Mid-Atlantic Regional selections by Soccer Buzz Magazine following the Eagles' 2007 campaign.
Scott, who was named to the all-region third team, led an Eagles defense that allowed just 17 goals en route to a 10-6-3 record. The senior defender was named First-Team All-Patriot League this season after being named to the Second Team in her previous three seasons and became the first American student-athlete to be named the PL Defensive Player of the Year.
Engel was named to the website's all-freshman squad, after becoming the first player in American women's soccer history to win the Patriot League Rookie of the Year award She was also an All-League First Team honoree. She scored two goals on the season as a defender, including a game-winner in a 1-0 win over Colgate.
"Having Annette and Friederike recognized is not only well deserved individually, but also provides further proof that the squad as a whole had a stellar campaign," said Eagles Head Coach Michael Brady. "Annette performed at a high level throughout her career and is going to be greatly missed and Friederike has the potential to become even more influential in the years to come and we are excited and delighted to have her as an Eagle."
