EMMITSBURG, Md. - Junior forward Kelsey Brasher tallied a pair of goals to lead the American University women's soccer team to a 3-0 non-conference win over Mount St. Mary's at Waldron Family Stadium on Tuesday. The Eagles improve to 2-2 on the young season, while The Mount fell to 0-3.

American jumped into the offense from the beginning whistle, as the Eagles rifled off six unanswered shots before the 15 minute mark. AU finally broke onto the scoreboard in the 18th minute of play when Tatiana Bertolo played a long ball in to Kelsey Brasher, who chipped The Mount keeper, Alicia Miller, for the 1-0 advantage.

AU would go on to out-shoot Mount St. Mary's by a 9-0 margin, but would only hold the one goal lead heading into the second half.

The Mount finally registered its first shot in the contest early in the second half, but the Eagles would continue to press and Brasher registered her third goal of the season on a cross from Marissa Crollett to up the advantage to 2-0.

Senior forward Krystn Hodge scored her first goal of the season with just seconds remaining in regulation. Mary Reigler sent a ball that sprung Hodge on a breakaway and she beat the keeper from just inside the 18 to seal the Eagles' 3-0 victory.

AU took 23 shots in the contest compared to Mount St. Mary's three. Miller finished with eight saves for The Mount, while freshman keeper Arianna Efstathiou made three stops en route to earning her first collegiate win.

The Eagles will return to action on Friday, Sept. 5 as they travel to ACC opponent Maryland for a 5 p.m. kickoff.
