Ali Bimba enters her first season as a volunteer assistant coach for the American University women's soccer program under David Bucciero. Bimba played two years of varsity soccer at Wheaton College, where she was a two-time NSCAA All-America selection before finishing her career at Villanova. Bimba was also a member of the Wheaton track team, who were National Champions in 1999. Bimba graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Villanova in 2004.
Prior to American, Bimba served as an assistant coach at Williams. She helped coach women's soccer, ice hockey and track and was responsible for a wide range of responsibilities, including recruiting, budget management, administrative duties, academic support and the development of student-athletes in and out of competitive settings.
Bimba served as a camp coach at Notre Dame and Virginia last July and also served as the head coach at Lesley University for the 2006 season.
A track and soccer standout at Williston Northampton School in Easthampton, Mass., Bimba was a three-year member of the N.H. ODP National Player Pool as well as a two-time champion in the 400 meters (outdoor) and 300 meters (indoor).
