WASHINGTON — American University head women's soccer coach Anabel Hering has announced a tough 2018 schedule that will see a good balance of home and away games.
"We are extremely excited about this fall season," said Hering. "This past year, the team has grown so much together and we are really starting to gain momentum with their style and cohesiveness."
The Eagles will open the slate with a local home match against Mount St. Mary's on Aug. 16 followed by a trip to Catamount Country for a road contest against Vermont on Aug. 19.
The remaining three games in August sees AU hosting Longwood (Aug. 23) and Hampton (Aug. 29). A short trip to UMBC is sandwiched in the middle on Aug. 26.
American will play four of seven games away from Reeves Field in September with home contests against Richmond, Boston U. and Bucknell. The Eagles will travel to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference favorite Monmouth and PL powerhouse Navy during the month.
Senior Day will come a bit earlier this season, as American hosts Lehigh on Oct. 6 before a pair of home games against Loyola Maryland (Oct. 17) and Lafayette on Oct. 21 during All-American Weekend
American returns 14 upperclassmen and six sophomores from last season while welcoming six newcomers to the roster.
