Flaherty Earns Academic All-Patriot League Team

Kira Flaherty earns Academic All-PL

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — American University senior Kira Flaherty added to her postseason awards as she was named to the Academic All-Patriot League team, by the league office.

Flaherty is one of 11 student-athletes named to the list and boasts a 3.97 grade-point average in biology. This her second time on the academic team. 

To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.

Flaherty finished the season with a team-best two goals and four points. She scored both of her goals in an eight-minute span against Loyola Maryland on Oct. 18.

She was a co-captain this season and completed her career at American with three goals in 72 games. Flaherty is a three-time PL Academic Honor Roll member and was part of the 2016 All-PL Academic Team.

American finished its season 2-15 with a 1-8 mark in Patriot League play.
