WASHINGTON — The American University women's soccer team travels to Lafayette on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
The Eagles are coming off a 2-1 victory over Loyola on Wednesday. Kira Flaherty scored twice to snap AU's 11-game losing streak. AU got on the board in the 23rd minute on Flaherty's first goal of the season. Audrey Denkler and Kyanna Alleyne were credited with assists. The play developed as Alleyne moved the ball from midfield before sending the ball to Denker who crossed it over to Flaherty for the finish in the box.
Flaherty leads the Eagles with four points on two goals. Kyanna Alleyne leads the team with two assists. Ryleigh Brown has posted a 1.59 goals against average and secured her first win against the Greyhounds.
Krista Kissell and Katie Brannigan lead the Leopards with six points each. Maggie Pohl and Kelly O'Brien have each spent time in goal this season with Pohl posting a 1.67 goals against average.
The Eagles will conclude the regular-season on Oct. 28 against Army West Point at Reeves Field.
