TAMPA, Fla. – Evelyne Viens scored her third goal of the season and the USF Bulls added goals from Kylee Burroughs and Andrea Hauksdottir in a 3-0 women's soccer victory over American University on Sunday.
The Eagles fell to 0-2 on the season-opening road trip, having also fallen to Stetson on Friday. The Bulls improved to 2-0.
"The score doesn't depict the showing we had against USF," said AU head coach Anabel Hering. "We fought and worked much harder as a team than our Friday game.
"Things are coming together, we just made a few fixable errors on the goals we conceded. Our focus is now is recovery and looking ahead to our games next week."
Gabriela Maldonado had a team-high two shots on goal for the Eagles, who finished with six. AU had four shots in the opening half, but fell behind 2-0 by the break.
Sophomore Amy Krotine made five saves for AU, playing in the first half. Freshman keeper Ryleigh Brown had four saves while playing the entire second half.
American was outshot in the match 27-6.
The Eagles open their home season on Thursday in a 4 p.m. match with VMI. Admission to women's soccer matches at Reeves Field is free.
