Easton, Pa. – The American University women's soccer team scored first on the road versus Lafayette, but the Leopards surged in the second half scoring two goals for the 2-1 come-from-behind victory.
The Eagles continued their strong play from their last match against Holy Cross in first half as Hayley Mullins scored her first career goal for American.
Rookie Kaylee Hillard set up the score, crossing it in for Mullins who blasted off the hands of the diving goalkeeper. The goal came only one minute before the end of the half.
Lafayette rallied just after the break however scoring two goals in the first two and half minutes of the second half. The Leopards found the equalizer 1:07 in and netted another only 75 second later.
Both teams were efficient with their shots as AU scored on one of four while Lafayette netted two of nine.
The Leopards held the advantage in corners, 5-2, while the fouls split evenly at seven each.
The Eagles return to Reeves Field this Wednesday at 3 p.m. with a Patriot League matchup against Loyola (Md.).
