Lewisburg, Pa. – Once again it was a tale of two halves for the American University women's soccer team. The Eagles held Bucknell scoreless in the first stanza, but could not contain the Bison offense in the second. Bucknell came alive for three scores in an 18-minute span for a 3-0 victory.
American held the Bison to nine shots and only four on goal, each of which were saved by senior goalkeeper Charlene Belanger. Bucknell got its attack going in the second however, scoring on three of six attempts on net.
Belanger ended the match with seven totals saves, facing 11 corner kicks by the Bison.
Senior forward Lindsay Muri led the offensive attack for AU with four shots, but Bucknell did well to contest her strikes, keeping her from a shot on goal.
The American offense registered 11 total shots against Bucknell, but was only able to put two on net, both resulting in goalkeeper saves.
The game-winner for the Bison came in the 68th minute on a nice pass by Maddie Mulford, setting up Sarah Bresette for the score. Bucknell went on to score again in the 77th and 86th minutes to secure the win.
After five road games in six matches the Eagles finally return home to Reeve Field, taking on Army this Saturday at noon in rematch of last season's Patriot League Quarterfinals. AU was victorious in West Point, N.Y. in that game, advancing on penalty kicks after a scoreless double overtime.
