Women’s Soccer Closes Season at Colgate

The American University women's soccer team will conclude its 2011 season with a trip to Hamilton, N.Y., to take on Colgate in a Patriot League contest. The action will get underway at 7 p.m.

American (5-11-2, 1-4-0 PL) will look to close the season on a high note following a loss to Army last Sunday, which officially eliminated the Eagles from postseason contention. Prior to the match, AU's five seniors were honored in a Senior Day ceremony as they played their final match at Reeves Field. This year's senior class will be looking to end their careers over .500 in Patriot League play as they enter Saturday with a 10-10-6 conference record over the past four seasons.

Colgate (11-4-2, 4-0-2 PL) is unbeaten in conference play heading into the regular season finale and is on a nine-match unbeaten streak. Last weekend, the Raiders swept Lafayette and Lehigh to move into first place in the Patriot League standings. Colgate will clinch the No. 1 seed in the Patriot League Tournament with either a win or a tie against the Eagles.

Saturday's match will be the 13th all-time meeting between the two programs with Colgate owning an 8-3-1 record.  The Raiders have been victorious in each of the last four meetings, including a 2-1 win last year at Reeves Field.
