Finnegan, Vida Earn PL Player of the Week Honors

WASHINGTON - The American University women's lacrosse team was crowned the Patriot League Regular Season Champions on Saturday with a 13-10 win over Colgate and earned a pair of PL Player of the Week honors in the process. Seniors Brittany Finnegan and Kristine Vida were named the Defensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively.

Finnegan scored two goals and added two ground balls and a draw control. She also helped lead a defensive unit that surrendered just 10 goals against and had three caused turnovers in the game.

Vida, named GOTW for the fourth time this season, stepped up to the task on Saturday as the Eagles earned the right to host the Patriot League Tournament . She made 14 saves on 24 shots faced, good enough for a save percentage of .583. She also chipped in with a game-high six groundballs.

The Eagles will host Navy in the first semifinal at Jacobs Field on Friday at 1 p.m., while Colgate will face Lehigh at 3:30 p.m. with the winners meeting on Sunday for a 1 p.m. start.
