Maureen Dupcak To Be Inducted Into Potomac Chapter Lacrosse Hall of Fame

Jan. 7, 2008

WASHINGTON - Former American University women's lacrosse coach Maureen Dupcak has been named a 2008 inductee to the Potomac Chapter Lacrosse Hall of Fame by US Lacrosse.

Dupcak, who coached the Eagles from 1998-2003, oversaw the rise of women's lacrosse at American during her six-season tenure. She took over a program that only had 17 total wins in its history and went on to build a 45-54 record, which includes the three best records in school history.

In her first season at the helm, Dupcak led the Eagles to a 9-7 record en route to being named the Colonial Athletic Association Coach of the Year. She piloted the squad to a 10-win season in 2002 and claimed a share of the Patriot League regular season title.

AU lacrosse had its best season in history under Dupcak's tutelage in 2003, as the squad set a new school record of 11 wins and an 11-8 overall record. The Eagles were once again Patriot League regular season co-champions and went on to win the league tournament and advance to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.

Dupcak leads a class of six members being inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. There will be a dinner reception and induction ceremony on Saturday, Feb.2, 2008, at the University Club of Washington D.C., to honor the inductees for their lacrosse achievements and contributions to the growth and excellence of lacrosse in the Greater Washington metropolitan area.
