AU Lacrosse Falls in Season Opener at Ohio State, 14-3

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The American University women's lacrosse team dropped its season opener at Ohio State on Saturday, falling to the Buckeyes by a score of 14-3. AU is 0-1 on the young season.

Ohio State got on the board first, notching a goal at the 21:03 mark. Lauren Lane got the equalizer for American just a few seconds later to knot the score at 1-1, but the Buckeyes would go on an 8-0 tear over the next 14 minutes to take a commanding 9-1 lead. Lauren Aksionoff would score her first goal of the season before the half ended, 9-2, but the Eagles were never able to recover.

Amanda Makoid scored a second half goal for American as they fell by a final score of 14-3. Aksionoff and Jackie Lane added assists for the Eagles, while goalkeeper Kristine Vida made eight stops in goal for AU.

The Eagles will return to action at Drexel on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 3:30 p.m.
