Eagles Visit Army West Point in Key PL Contest

WASHINGTON – With the regular season winding down, the American University lacrosse team visits first-year program Army West Point in a key Patriot League matchup on Saturday, April 16, at 3:30 p.m.

The Eagles, who have just three games remaining in the regular season, enter this weekend's contest with a 4-10 overall record and 1-5 mark in the Patriot League. American is coming off a tough 12-8 road loss to Bucknell last Sunday.

Senior captains Jessica Wojciechowski (3g, 1a) and Olivia Mangan (2g, 2a) each scored four points to lead the Eagles against the Bison, who opened the game on a 5-0 run. 

Mangan, who needs just two more assists to tie AU's all-time career record, leads American with 40 points this season, scoring 19 goals and a team-high 21 assists. Sophomore Jennifer DeSimone has added 36 points, including a team-best 31 goals, while Wojciechowski has pitched in 33 points (24g, 9a).

Army enters Saturday's game with a 5-8 overall record and 0-5 ledger in Patriot League play. In their last contest, the Black Knights fell to Lehigh, 14-6, with sophomore Rachel Hornick and freshman Nikki Polhamus each scoring two goals to lead the way.

Sophomore Amy Johnston paces Army's offense with 35 total points this season, leading the team in both goals (22) and assists (13). Meanwhile, Hornick (21g, 5a) and Polhamus (17g, 3a) have added 26 and 20 points, respectively.
