WASHINGTON – Looking to keep its Patriot League Tournament hopes alive, the American University lacrosse team will host Lehigh in a critical league matchup on Sunday, April 12, at 1 p.m.
Prior to the game, the Eagles will honor the six members of their senior class in a special ceremony.
Sunday's contest will have a significant impact on the Patriot League standings, as American and Lehigh enter the game tied for sixth in the league with a 2-4 mark.
With the top six teams advancing to the Patriot League Tournament, Lehigh can clinch a tournament bid with a win this weekend. Meanwhile, American needs a victory Sunday and a win by Holy Cross on Saturday to guarantee a spot in the league tournament.
The Eagles, who carry a 4-10 overall record on the season, are coming off a home loss to 17th-ranked Loyola Maryland. Juniors Terese Buechli and Jessica Wojciechowski were the leading scorers for American against the Greyhounds, finishing with two goals each.
For the season, Wojciechowski is AU's leading scorer with 35 total points, including a team-best 32 goals. Junior Olivia Mangan has added 14 goals and 15 assists, while senior Jordan Harrington (9g, 14a) and sophomore Madison Hoon (19g, 4a) have both registered 23 points.
Lehigh owns a 7-7 overall record on the season following an 8-3 loss versus Navy on Wednesday.
Allison LeBeau has registered a team-high 40 points on the season with 29 goals and 11 assists, while Carli Sukonik has scored a team-leading 33 goals along with four assists. The Mountain Hawks, led by goalkeeper Taylor Tvedt, also rank among the top defensive teams in the Patriot League with an 8.21 goals against average.
