WASHINGTON – Coming off its first Patriot League victory of the season, the American University lacrosse team will face a formidable foe in 10th-ranked Louisville when the two teams meet Tuesday, March 31, at 2 p.m. at Jacobs Field.
The Eagles rolled to a 16-6 victory over league-foe Bucknell on Saturday to snap a three-game losing streak and improve to 3-8 on the season and 1-3 in PL action. Juniors Terese Buechli and Jessica Wojciechowski each registered a career-high five goals against the Bison to lead American's offense.
For the season, Wojciechowski leads the Eagles with 28 goals and 30 points, while classmate Olivia Mangan has added eight goals and a team-high 14 assists. In addition, sophomore Madison Hoon has registered 17 goals, four assists and a team-leading 34 draw controls.
Louisville, ranked 10th in the latest IWLCA coaches poll, enters Tuesday's game with an 8-3 overall record after dropping a 12-10 road decision to then-fourth-ranked Northwestern.
Faye Brust, who registered six goals against the Wildcats, leads the Cardinals with 49 points on the season, including a team-high 40 goals. Kaylin Morissette has added 37 goals and a team-leading 11 assists, while Hannah Koloski (34g, 2a) and Cortnee Daly (28g, 7a) have pitched in 36 and 35 points, respectively.
