American Visits Navy in PL Action

WASHINGTON – In search of its first Patriot League victory of the season, the American University lacrosse team visits league foe Navy on Wednesday, March 18, for a 4 p.m. contest.

The Eagles enter this week's game with a 2-6 overall record and 0-2 ledger in the Patriot League after falling to Holy Cross, 15-10, on Saturday.

Junior Jessica Wojciechowski was the leading scorer for American versus the Crusaders, tallying four goals, while Patriot League Rookie of the Week Jennifer DeSimone added a goal and two assists.

For the season, Wojciechowski leads the Eagles with 20 total points, including a team-best 19 goals. Sophomore Madison Hoon has added 16 goals and two assists, while junior Olivia Mangan has tallied six goals and a team-leading 11 assists.

Navy, receiving votes in the latest IWLCA poll, currently holds an 8-1 overall record and 2-0 mark in Patriot League play. The Midshipmen are coming off a 21-4 victory over Bucknell. Senior Loren Generi, who has won five consecutive PL Midfielder of the Week awards, led Navy against the Bison with six goals and two assists.

Generi leads the Mids with 31 goals and 18 assists on the season and ranks first in the Patriot League in points per game (5.13), goals per game (3.13), assists per game (2.0) and draw controls per game (8.63). Katie Gallagher has added 21 goals and 11 assists on the year, while netminder Annie Foky ranks second in the Patriot League with a 5.84 goals against average.
