WASHINGTON – The American University lacrosse team wraps up its three-game road swing this Saturday, Feb. 21, when it visits Richmond in an 11 a.m. contest at Robins Stadium.
The Eagles enter the weekend with a 1-1 record after dropping a 13-12 triple overtime battle at Saint Joseph's on Wednesday. Junior Olivia Mangan scored five points (2g, 3a) to lead AU, while junior Jessica Wojciechowski and sophomore Madison Hoon each added hat tricks against the Hawks.
In their first two games, the Eagles have scored 28 total goals, led by Hoon with eight and Wojciechowski with seven. Meanwhile, Mangan leads American in total points this season with 11 (4g, 7a). Freshman Rose Redfoot has taken over for the Eagles between the pipes, tallying 16 saves in AU's first two games.
Richmond, which brings an 0-2 record to this weekend's contest, is seeking its first win of the season after falling to No. 8 Duke (17-4) and No. 7 Virginia (14-6).
Emily Doyle leads the Spiders with five points (3g, 2a) this season, while Bailey Zerr and Charlett Stevenson have each tallied two goals. Meanwhile, Emily Boyce has recorded 22 saves in the cage for Richmond.
