WASHINGTON - American University field hockey placed four players on the 2007 NFHCA Division I All-Region Team, NFHCA officials announced on Monday. Denise Infante (2005, 2006, 2007) earns first team honors for the third straight season, Irene Schickhardt is a repeat first-team selection (2006, 2007) and Maggie Hall has been named to the second team all four years of her career. Freshman Christine Fingerhuth earns the honors for the first time after finishing up her rookie season with the Eagles.
Infante wrapped up an impressive four years this season and ends her career ranked sixth amongst American University All-Time Career Point Leaders with 100 points, combining 35 goals with 30 assists. The backbone of an Eagle defense that ranks seventh in the nation in goals against average and ties for fourth in shutouts per game, the senior defender earned Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. In the 2007 season, Infante registered a defensive save in the win over Kent State and with the Santiago, Chile, native as its anchor, American's defense has posted eight shutouts on the year. A two-way threat for the Eagles, Infante led the Patriot League and American University in points this season with 31, combining a league-high 11 assists with 10 goals. Over the past four years, Infante has earned numerous accolades, including Second Team All-America, First Team All-Region (three times), All-Patriot League (four times), Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year (two times) and was named the Patriot League Tournament MVP twice.
After earning Second Team All-Region as a freshman, Schickhardt was named to the First Team for the second straight season. As a junior, the attacker is ranked seventh amongst AU's career point leaders with 97 points, just three points shy of passing Infante. Schickhardt has earned All-League honors for the past three seasons and was also named the Rookie of the Year in her inaugural season. Last season, the Ludwigsburg, Germany, native was a Third Team All-America selection.

For the fourth consecutive season, Hall was selected to the Second Team All-Region squad. After earning Second Team All-Conference for the past three seasons, Hall was named to the First Team All-Patriot League for the first time in her career. The senior midfielder scored six goals this season for 12 points and has been a consistent threat for the Eagles over the past four seasons. Starting her career as the Patriot League Rookie of the Year, Hall has been recognized ever since. She has been named to the All-Patriot League squad for four consecutive seasons and is also a four-time Second Team All-Region selection. The Annville, Pa., native finishes her career as an Eagles ranked 12th amongst American University All-Time Career Point Leaders with 75 points.
Earning second team honors in her first season as an Eagle, Fingerhuth combined 11 goals with five assists for 27 points. She ranked fourth on the Eagles and led all freshman in the Patriot League. Fingerhuth was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week five times in the 2007 season.
American University wrapped up a successful 16-5-0 season, after remaining undefeated in league play for the fifth consecutive year and winning its fifth-straight Patriot League Championship.
