WASHINGTON - The American University field hockey team wrapped up its sixth-consecutive Patriot League Regular Season Championship on Saturday with a 3-1 win over Lafayette and is ranked No. 19 in the latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association Poll. The Eagles have been ranked in each of the eight weeks the poll has been out and reached as high as No. 14 in weeks 1-3.

The Eagles will wrap up the regular season portion of its schedule this weekend at Lehigh on Saturday at 8 p.m. (the game will be played at Lafayette) and at No. 11 Princeton on Sunday at 2 p.m. Last season, American took a 6-1 win against Lehigh and a 3-2 win over then-No 18 Princeton, both at Jacobs Field.

"We are very proud of our team clinching the regular season championship but know we have a tough weekend ahead of us," said AU associate head coach Sarah Krombolz. "Lehigh is a team that leaves everything on the field each time we play them. We must be prepared to compete for an entire 70 minutes against them."

"Princeton is a strong team and one that we have intense games with each year," she continued. "They are well coached and have a number of talented players. We look forward to the tactical challenges Sundays game will present."

The Patriot League Tournament will be held Nov. 7-8 at Jacobs Field, with American, Lafayette and Colgate claiming three of the four spots. Holy Cross and Bucknell will vie for the final spot in the championship.
