WASHINGTON - The American University field hockey team clinched the top seed in the upcoming Patriot League field hockey tournament after defeating Lafayette 3-1 on Saturday. As a result, a pair of Eagles earned Patriot League weekly honors.

Freshman Tatum Dyer was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the third straight week and fifth time this season, while senior goalkeeper Alyssa Poorman earned her second consecutive Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week honor and fifth of the season.

Dyer played every minute for the American defense, helping the Eagles clinch the Patriot League regular season championship with a 3-1 win over Lafayette. She was part of a defensive unit that allowed just one goal. She also recorded her first defensive save early in the first half to keep the Leopards off the board.

Poorman made three key saves in the Eagles' 3-1 win over Lafayette to clinch the Patriot League regular season title. Poorman surrendered just one goal against the Leopards to claim her ninth victory of the season.

The Eagles will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, in a conference tilt with Lehigh at 8 p.m. at Lafayette then finish up with No. 12 Princeton on Sunday at 2 p.m.
