Oct. 20, 2008

WASHINGTON - The American University field hockey team won both of its games this weekend, a 4-0 win over Bucknell and a 4-1 win over Towson, and had two players earn Patriot League Weekly Honors as a result. Senior goalkeeper Alyssa Poorman earned her fourth Goalkeeper of the Week honor, while Tatum Dyer was named Rookie of the Week also for the fourth time.

Poorman had another outstanding week in goal for the Eagles, posting two wins and adding her sixth shutout of the season against Bucknell. She made five saves for a .833 save percentage in winning the award for the fourth time this season and 11th career PL weekly award.

Dyer again played every minute for the AU defense over a weekend and allowed just one goal and six shots on net. Dyer has been an integral part of the Eagles defense all season, a unit that has allowed just 1.29 goals against per game.

The Eagles return to action this weekend against Lafayette on Saturday at noon on Jacobs Field.
