Oct. 9, 2008

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - American senior Irene Schickhardt became the first Patriot League field hockey student-athlete this season to earn ECAC Player of the Week honors, taking home the organization's Offensive Player of the Week award on Wednesday after notching five goals and an assist in two victories over the weekend.

Schickhardt had a three-goal, one-assist performance in a 4-0 win over Holy Cross in Patriot League action on Saturday and a two-goal effort in a 3-0 win over La Salle on Sunday. She also scored the game-winning goal in both contests, and earned Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week recognition for her performance.

Schickhardt moved up to fifth place in the Patriot League record book with 114 career points, and is third in League history with 34 assists. Schickhardt's 40 career goals place her just one away from cracking the Patriot League top 10.

Schickhardt and the No. 20-ranked Eagles take on an important weekend on the road, facing Colgate in a Patriot League matchup on Saturday and playing No. 2 Syracuse on Sunday.
