AU Field Hockey Picks Up a Pair of Patriot League Weekly Awards

WASHINGTON - After defeating Big Ten opponent Northwestern by a score of 5-2 on Saturday, the No. 14 ranked American University field hockey team had two players named as Patriot League Players of the Week. Junior Anne-Meike De Wiljes was tabbed as Defensive Player of the Week and freshman defender Tatum Dyer earned Rookie of the Week honors.

De Wiljes tallied a goal and an assist from her defensive position while holding the Wildcats under their season goal average in the 5-2 win. This is de Wiljes' third-career Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week award.

Dyer earns her first-career Patriot League Rookie of the Week award after helping keep Northwestern to just two goals in the win. The freshman defender has played every minute of every game this season for the Eagles.

AU will return to action on Wednesday when they head to College Park, Md. to take on the Terrapins of Maryland at 3 p.m. Maryland was ranked No. 1 in the country until falling to seventh-ranked Syracuse over the weekend.
