Assistant Coach Nathaniel Franks begins his second season as an assistant coach at American after graduating from Princeton University in 2007. While at Princeton, Franks worked as the team manager and videographer for three seasons (2003-05), before becoming the student assistant in 2006. Franks worked with the goalies and the defensive unit each of the four years he was at Princeton, while also participating as a practice player. While working with the Tigers, Princeton field hockey captured three Ivy League championships and posted a 26-2 conference record. The squad earned three NCAA Tournament berths, advancing to the Elite Eight in 2006 after upsetting Old Dominion in the first round. Playing Career: A competitor in the sport himself, Franks was a member of the United States National Team practice squad in the summer of 2002. He remains an active member of the Mid-Atlantic club field hockey scene as well as participating in the Cal Cup Tournament in Moorpark, Calif. Franks is also still active in the U.S. Field Hockey Association Men's High Performance Program. Franks received his USFHA Level II Coaching Certification in June of 2008. He currently resides in Washington, D.C.
