GILBERT, Ariz. - The accolades continue to roll in for American University field hockey senior Rafaela Rubas, as she was named to the NFHCA All-America Third Team on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
Rubas is the 14th player in program history to earn All-American status and the first since Grace Wilson in 2013.
This is the latest in a long line of honors for the Vienna, Austria, native as her record book career comes to a close. Last week, she joined an elite group with Magdalena Aguilar (1999-02) and Camila Infante (2003-06) as one of the three players in program history to earn four consecutive First Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region honors.
Rubas closed her career with a second-consecutive Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year honor, fourth consecutive All-Patriot League First Team selection, and second consecutive Academic All-Patriot League award. She was among the team leaders with seven goals and seven assists for 21 points.
She solidified her presence in the AU field hockey record books as she sits alongside Savannah Graybill as the No. 9 goal scorer in program history with 39 career goals. She is also tied for No. 8 in the career all-time top ten for assists (28) and is eighth for total points (106).
