CHANDLER, Ariz. - For the second consecutive year, senior Rafaela Rubas and sophomore Noor Coenen both earned spots on the Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Mid-Atlantic team, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced on Monday.
This is a particularly significant award for Rubas, who has now earned First Team All-Mid-Atlantic honors all four years of her career at AU. She now joins the elite ranks alongside Magdalena Aguilar (1999-02) and Camila Infante (2003-06) as the only three Eagles to have accomplished this feat.
Rubas closed her career with a second-consecutive Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year honor. She was among the team leaders with seven goals and seven assists for 21 points. She solidified her presence in the AU field hockey record books as she sits alongside Savannah Graybill as the No. 9 goal scorer in program history with 39 career goals. She is also tied for No. 8 in the career all-time top ten for assists (28) and is eighth for total points (106).
This is also the second consecutive all-region nod for sophomore Noor Coenen, as she was once again selected for the Second Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region team. Coenen led the team throughout most of the season and ended with a team-high 24 points off nine goals and six assists. She was also selected for the First Team All-Patriot League team along with Rubas and senior Maura Jacobs.
