CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - American University field hockey freshman Aidan Rossman earned her first career Patriot League weekly award on Monday, Oct. 1, as she was selected as the Rookie of the Week for Sept. 24-30.
Rossman is the second AU field hockey player to be selected for a weekly honor by the conference this season after senior Maura Jacobs was voted as goalkeeper of the week on Sept. 10.
The Beaverdam, Va., native had a career-high day on Saturday as she was one of three Eagles to put up two goals to help lead AU to a 9-1 victory over Lehigh. Rossman tapped in the third goal of the game to open the second half, redirecting a shot from sophomore Noor Coenen along the post. She added the eighth goal of the day later in the half, taking a pass from across the cage from junior Jette Dieckmann.
Coenen and junior Kathryn Roncoroni also led the team with two goals against the Mountain Hawks.
Rossman now totals three goals for the season after she tallied her first point as an Eagle during the 5-2 win over then-No. 17 James Madison.
Coenen and senior Rachel Stefano were also selected as honorable mentions in this week's Patriot League award release.
The Eagles will be back on the road next weekend with an 11 a.m. game at Bucknell on Saturday (Oct. 6). AU will return home for a two-game stretch starting Friday, Oct. 12, against Towson followed by Old Dominion on Sunday, Oct. 14.
