Jacobs Selected as Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Senior Maura Jacobs earned the American University field hockey team's first Patriot League weekly award of the season on Tuesday after being selected as the league's goalkeeper of the week. 

Jacobs had a career-high weekend, putting up back-to-back nine-save performances against No. 17 Harvard and No. 12 Delaware for her highest single-weekend save total in the AU uniform. Jacobs ranks second in the league with her .764 save percentage, and third for goals against average (2.087) and saves per game (7.0).

The New Cumberland, Pa., native will enter Patriot League play next weekend with 42 saves so far this season and is only 24 away from reaching the 200-save career milestone.

The Eagles will open league play on Saturday, Sept. 15, with a noon start against defending champion Boston University, currently ranked 24th in the latest NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association) poll.
