CHANDLER, Ariz. – Three American University field hockey players earned Longstreth/NFHCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region selections, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced on Monday. Junior Rafaela Rubas was selected to the All-Region First Team, while senior Haley Bowcutt and freshman Noor Coenen were both chosen for the All-Region Second Team.

Rubas and Coenen also closed their seasons with Patriot League major award nods, as Rubas was selected as the PL Offensive Player of the Year and Coenen the PL Rookie of the Year. Both were named to the All-Patriot League First Team, while Bowcutt was selected to the All-PL Second Team.

This is the third consecutive First Team All-Region nod for Rubas, who closed her junior campaign alongside Bowcutt as the team's leader in assists (8), and second for goals (12) and points (32). The Vienna, Austria, native was one of four players from the league to make the first team in their respective region.

Coenen had a memorable start to her collegiate career, leading the team with 15 goals and 33 points. The Naarden, Nethlands, native consistently ranked among the top freshmen in the NCAA during the latter part of the regular season, and she closed the season ranked second in the league in points (1.74 per game) and goals (.789 per game).

Bowcutt, a forward from Annapolis, Md., had a record-breaking senior campaign after she earned new career-highs across the board with 11 goals and eight assists for 30 points. The senior led the squad's scoring efforts early in the season and was one of the primary factors in AU's league-high 153 penalty corners.

The Eagles closed the 2017 season with a 13-6 overall record, 5-1 in the Patriot League. For the latest on AU Field Hockey, stay tuned to AUEagles.com and follow the team on Twitter @AU_FieldHockey.
