WASHINGTON – In a battle for first place in the Patriot League, the American University field hockey team visits 17th-ranked Boston University Saturday at noon.
American enters this weekend's matchup with a 7-3 overall record and 2-0 mark in league action. The Eagles earned a pair of 4-3 victories last weekend, defeating Holy Cross and Temple.
Senior Jess Davis, who was selected as the PL Offensive Player of the Week, led the Eagles in their two wins, totaling three goals on the weekend, including both game-winners. She scored two goals versus Temple, matching her single-game career high.
For the season, junior Natalie Konerth leads the Eagles in total points with 15, including a team-high seven assists. Freshman Rafaela Rubas is second on the team with 14 points and leads the Eagles with six goals.
Rubas is tied for first in the Patriot League in total goals, while Konerth is tied for the league lead in assists.
Boston University carries a 6-3 overall record and 2-0 PL record into Saturday's contest. The defending Patriot League champions are coming off a 5-1 loss to second-ranked Syracuse.
Hester van der Laan leads BU and the Patriot League in total points (16) and is tied for first in the league in goals with six. Meanwhile, Bea Baumberger shares the league lead with seven assists this season.
