Davis Tabbed GEICO AU Student-Athlete of the Week

WASHINGTON – American University field hockey player Jess Davis has been recognized as the GEICO AU Student-Athlete of the Week for her play in the Eagles' victory over Colgate last Saturday. Davis was also selected as the Corvias Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday.

Additionally, senior back Grace Wilson received her fourth Corvias Defensive Player of the Week honor this season, while goalkeeper Kate McBeath garnered honorable mention recognition from the Patriot League.

Davis, a junior from Selinsgrove, Pa., scored a career-high two goals to lead American in a 4-1 win over Colgate on Saturday, as the Eagles handed the Raiders their first conference loss. The win helped AU clinch a berth in the Patriot League Tournament for a conference-record 14th-straight season.

Meanwhile, Wilson continued to anchor the Eagles' defense, which allowed just two goals in two games for the week. In addition, the Ann Arbor, Mich., native earned an assist in American's win over Colgate on Saturday.

The Eagles close their home schedule this Friday, Oct. 24, as they host Boston University in a 3 p.m. contest. The Terriers and Eagles come into Friday's match tied for second in the Patriot League.
