WASHINGTON - The American University women's basketball team will look to win its fifth game of the season on Tuesday at University of Maryland-Eastern Shore at 6 p.m. The Eagles have dropped three straight games to the Hawks, including a 60-56 decision a year ago, but have an all-time record of 8-4 over UMES.

American is coming off of a convincing 77-59 win over Cleveland State on Sunday that got the Eagles back on the winning trail. AU had four players score in double digits, including Nicole Ryan’s team-high 16 points. Michelle Kirk, who currently leads the team in points per games with 12.6, tallied 15 points in the game. Pam Stanfield had eight assists and seven rebounds.

The Eagles got out to a 3-0 start for the first time since 2001, defeating NJIT, Drexel and Howard. AU dropped its next two contests against Big 10 opponent Minnesota and ACC member N.C. State and fell to the .500 mark at Morgan State in a 57-54 battle.

UMES is looking for its first win of the season, after dropping its first four games to Syracuse, Army, Iona and UMBC.
