WASHINGTON - American University's Stephanie N'Garsanet claimed the final women's basketball Patriot League Baden Player of the Week award, the league announced today. N'Garsanet led the team to a 2-0 week, defeating Navy and Lafayette, to give the Eagles their first-ever regular season conference championship.
In the 69-37 rout over Navy on Wednesday, N'Garsanet recorded her first-ever double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds. She also added a block in her 26 minutes of action. She then went on to score a game-high 17 points, including 9-10 from the charity stripe, and added four rebounds, two steals, two blocks and an assist in the 60-57 overtime win at Lafayette.
The Eagles have won 10 straight games to close out the regular season, including seven on the road. The road streak is the longest in American's program history and 10 straight wins ties the AU record for consecutive wins dating back to the 1997-98 season.
The Eagles will continue their quest for the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament berth on Saturday when they play Colgate at 12:00 noon at Christl Arena on the campus of Army. American is the first seed, while Colgate is the eighth seed. The Eagles won both contests during the regular season by scores of 88-58 and 73-46, respectively.
