WASHINGTON - The American University women's basketball team will travel to Annapolis, Md., on Wednesday to face Navy at 7 p.m. The Eagles will look to bounce back after a loss in Worcester, Ma. on Saturday to Holy Cross, 58-55. This is the second time AU has faced Navy this season. The Eagles lost to the Midshipmen, 68-61, on Jan 28. Michelle Kirk led all scorers with a career high 27 points.
This marks the 31st meeting in the all-time series between American and Navy. American leads the series, 18-13, has won three out of the last four games.
The Eagles fell to 8-4 in the Patriot League with Saturday's loss to Holy Cross, 58-55, placing them second in the conference.
Senior Pam Stanfield is steadily climbing up the charts in career assists. The Eagles point guard currently has 360 assists, which ranks her third all-time at AU. Stanfield's 102 assists this season places her ninth on AU's single season list. Stanfield has had two eight assist performances this season and has a personal best of 11 in a game, set on Feb. 21, 2006 against Navy.
