WASHINGTON - The American University women's basketball team will travel to Worcester, MA., on Saturday to face Holy Cross at 1 p.m. The Eagles will look to bounce back after a loss at home on Wednesday to Army, 60-58 in overtime. This is the second time AU has faced Holy Cross this season. The Eagles beat the Crusaders 64-58 on Jan 24. Michelle Kirk led all scorers with 18 points.
This marks the 19th meeting in the all-time series between American and Holy Cross. Holy Cross leads the series 13-5 with AU winning three games in a row.
The Eagles fell to 8-3 in the Patriot League with Wednesday's overtime loss to Army, 60-58. American is currently a game behind Lehigh for first place in the conference.
Senior Pam Stanfield is steadily climbing up the charts in career assists. The Eagles point guard has amassed 353 assists to date, which ranks her third all-time at AU. Stanfield has had two eight assist performances this season and has a personal best of 11 in a game, set on Feb. 21, 2006 against Navy.
