WASHINGTON - Freshman forward Liz Leer was named Patriot League Baden Rookie of the Week in women's basketball, the league announced today. Leer scored 16 points on 8-9 from the field and added a career-high five blocks to pace the Eagles to their fourth straight victory, defeating Lehigh 62-49 Saturday.
The six-foot-two, Glenside, Pa. native is averaging 19.5 minutes a game off the bench for the Eagles and has been scoring at a 5.8 clip. Leer is shooting 54.9 percent from the field and is also grabbing 4.9 rebounds per game.
This is the second time Leer has been named Rookie of the Week this season. She previously earned the honor Dec. 10 after averaging 12.7 points per game, 5.3 rebounds per game and 1.3 assists per game in a 2-1 week for the Eagles.
